The Seattle Folk Festival returns to Town Hall Seattle on Sunday with a full-day of family programming for young and young-at-heart. Family folk favorites The Canote Brothers kick off the festival at noon with a rare set of kids songs like "I Wanna Be a Dog" and "Gonna Let that Bumblebee Be." From Virginia, Anna & Elizabeth will play music of the Appalachian Mountains; the music they grew up with. They'll also feature their handmade "Crankies," felt rolls that are unfurled like an old-fashioned movie and are based on traditional ballads of the hills. AND after their performance, kids can go upstairs to the lobby to make their own Seattle Crankie! Throughout the afternoon, Town Hall Seattle's downstairs stage will ring with amazing acoustic music from artists like the backwoods duo of master musicians and instrument makers Pharis & Jason Romero, the ever engaging and fun Laura Love with Orville Johnson, raging Portland bluegrass from Jackstraw, and Seattle's own wunderkinds: bluegrass darlings Northern Departure. Closing out the afternoon we'll have a family dance upstairs and a set from the great old-timey musicians Riley Baugus & Kirk Sutphin.
Bring your friends and family to Town Hall Seattle for the Seattle Folk Festival Sunday Family Jam. The festival is a place of gathering for all lovers of acoustic roots music. A winter home to warm ourselves by the fire of these amazing musicians.
